Assistant Professor Dr. Warqa Muhammad Sharif Al-Sheikh, as part of a team of researchers, published a scientific research entitled:
Mangifera indica L. kernel ethanol extract inhibits cell viability and proliferation with induction of cell cycle arrest and apoptosis in lung cancer cells.
In the journal Molecular & Cellular Oncology, which is indexed in Clarivate Web of Science
It has an impact factor of 1.5, as well as within the Scopus Q4 Sight Score 3 containers issued by Taylor and Francis.

The research examined the effects of the ethanolic extract of Mangifera indica L. kernel on the vitality and proliferation of human lung cancer cells. The research also used MTT and BrdU cell proliferation assays, morphological assessments, cell cycle analyses, and apoptosis assays to investigate the effects of the extract on lung cancer (A549 and NCI-H292) and normal lung cells (MRC-5).

The extract showed toxicity toward cancer cells compared to normal cells with a dose-dependent antiproliferative effect on lung cancer cells. The extract also induced differential effects on the cell cycle, resulting in G0/G1 arrest and increased Sub-G1 population in both lung cancer and lung cancer cells. Normal Lung It is worth noting that the extract caused loss of membrane integrity, shrinkage, membrane bleeding, and apoptosis in lung cancer cells.
