Workshop at the University of Al-Qadisiyah’s College of Dentistry on Child Behavior Management in the Dental Clinic
The Continuing Education Unit at the University of Al-Qadisiyah’s College of Dentistry held a workshop titled “Child Behavior Management in the Dental Clinic,” presented by trainee dentists Shahad Jalil Hadi and Sajjad Jawad Abbas.
The workshop aimed to enhance dentists’ skills in understanding and managing children’s behavior within the dental clinic. It focused on identifying appropriate communication methods, psychologically preparing children before and during treatment, and alleviating their fear and anxiety. These measures help foster cooperation and ensure a safe, comfortable, and effective treatment experience.
The workshop recommended adopting communication techniques suited to the child’s age and level of understanding, psychologically preparing the child prior to treatment to reduce fear and anxiety, and employing positive behavior management strategies to encourage cooperation while avoiding methods that might heighten fear or negatively impact the treatment experience. It also emphasized the importance of positively involving parents in preparing and supporting the child during the visit.
