A workshop at the College of Dentistry at Al-Qadisiyah University on the hierarchy of biological classification

Under the patronage of the President of Al-Qadisiyah University, Professor Dr. Kazem Jabr Al-Jubouri, and under the supervision of the Dean of the College of Dentistry, Professor Dr. Ali Hassan Ali Murad, a workshop entitled Hierarchy of biological classification was held in the College of Dentistry.

The workshop aimed to clarify the principles adopted in dividing living organisms based on important similarities or differences in their apparent characteristics, in addition to explaining the taxonomic ranks adopted in classifying living organisms and dividing them into main kingdoms and the organisms each kingdom contains, and giving an idea about living organisms, their characteristics and types.

The workshop came up with recommendations, the most important of which is adopting a basic characterization by applying the latest genetic methods for classification. It is also necessary to adopt a scientific database in which the different classifications overlap, not only according to genetics, but also by qualitative convergence.
