Workshop at the College of Dentistry at Al-Qadisiyah University on the types of cytoskeleton, structure and function
Under the patronage of the President of Al-Qadisiyah University, Professor Dr. Kazem Jabr Al-Jubouri, and under the supervision of the Dean of the College of Dentistry, Professor Dr. Ali Hassan Ali Murad, the Continuing Education Unit at the College of Dentistry held a workshop entitled (Types of Cytoskeleton, Structure and Function) presented by Asst. Prof. Dr. Warqaa Muhammad, Asst. Prof. Dr. Ashwaq Shaker, and Asst. Prof. Dr. Widad Abdul Jawad
The workshop aimed to define the cytoskeleton, clarify its components, and state its types and components in addition to its most important and essential functions in the cell
The workshop recommended the need to keep pace with the latest modern studies that show that the effect of some drugs in treating cancer by stopping the polymerization process of microtubules can thus control cancer, such as drugs:
Colcemid and colchicine
which bind to the protein (tubulin) and stop the polymerization process of microtubules, which in turn prevents the division process. Vincristine and vinblastine are used in chemotherapy for cancer because they selectively stop rapidly dividing cells.
