A workshop was held at the College of Dentistry at Al-Qadisiyah University on dealing with patients with chronic conditions.
Under the patronage of the President of Al-Qadisiyah University, Professor Dr. Rahi Kalf Mahdi Al-Yasiri, and under the supervision of the Dean of the College of Dentistry, Professor Dr. Ali Hassan Ali Murad, the Continuing Education Unit at the College of Dentistry held a workshop entitled “Dealing with Patients with Chronic Conditions.” Presented by dental trainees Adyan Bassem Hadi, Saja Mohsen Jaber, Bayan Falah Fadhel, and Zahraa Hassan Jassim, the workshop aimed to enhance the skills of dentists in dealing with patients with chronic conditions by understanding the associated health challenges and adapting the dental treatment plan to suit their health condition to ensure their safety and the quality of care provided.
The workshop recommended documenting the patient’s complete medical history before starting any treatment, reviewing current medications to ensure there are no drug interactions, and coordinating with the treating physician for the chronic condition when necessary. It also recommended modifying the dental treatment plan to suit the patient’s condition, monitoring vital signs before and during the treatment session, and preparing the clinic to handle potential medical emergencies.
