Under the patronage of the President of Al-Qadisiyah University, Professor Dr. Rahi Kalf Mahdi Al-Yasiri, and under the supervision of the Dean of the College of Dentistry, Professor Dr. Ali Hassan Ali Murad, the College of Dentistry held an educational festival on combating drugs under the slogan (Towards an Aware and Educated Society) and entitled (The Role of the Family and Society in Combating Drugs).

The festival was opened with verses from the Holy Quran and the recitation of Surat Al-Fatihah in memory of the souls of the martyrs. The national anthem was then played, followed by the festival’s segments.

The first theme, “Drugs: Hidden Terrorism: An Analytical Study of the Causes, Motives, and Treatment Methods,” was presented by Lieutenant Colonel Abbas Bardan from the Community Police. He pointed out the most important reasons individuals resort to drug use, how it constitutes hidden terrorism, and the efforts made by the Community Police for the benefit of society.

The second theme focused on the phenomenon of drug use. The third axis, “Psychotropic Substances and Society,” was presented by Professor Amjad Hamid Hamidi, an associate at the Diwaniyah Teaching Hospital, who showed the percentage of daily statistics recorded by the Health Department due to the consequences of drugs and the chronic diseases they cause. The goal of the festival is to highlight the importance of educating our students about the dangers of the scourge of drugs, clarifying the dangers they pose to the health of individuals and society, and the profound impact they have on the value and moral system, the subsequent waste of human resources, and dragging those who use them into the abyss of decadence and crime, as well as the waste of economic resources resulting from the use and trafficking of this deadly poison.
