A scientific workshop was held at the College of Dentistry, Al-Qadisiyah University, on the legal penalties for drug use, possession, and trafficking.

Under the patronage of the President of Al-Qadisiyah University, Professor Dr. Rahi Kalaf Mahdi Al-Yasiri, and the supervision of the Dean of the College of Dentistry, Professor Dr. Ali Hassan Ali Murad, the Women’s Affairs Unit at the College of Dentistry organized a scientific workshop entitled “Legal Penalties for Drug Use, Possession, and Trafficking in Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances.” The workshop was presented by Assistant Lecturer Noor Jalawi Jabbar.

The workshop aimed to clarify the different legal classifications of possession, use, and trafficking, and to explain the criminal penalties and precautionary measures prescribed for each case, along with an explanation of aggravating circumstances and cases of legal exemption. Among the most important recommendations of the workshop was the need to intensify legislative awareness among young people regarding the lasting legal consequences, while strengthening partnerships between security and educational institutions to provide proactive preventative programs and activate legal rehabilitation pathways for recovering addicts to ensure their reintegration and protect them from recidivism.
