Workshop at the College of Dentistry, University of Al-Qadisiyah, on Professional Integrity and Its Role in Combating Administrative Corruption
The Continuing Education Unit at the College of Dentistry, University of Al-Qadisiyah, held a workshop titled “Professional Integrity and Its Role in Combating Administrative Corruption,” presented by Shatha Kamil and Wijdan Mohammed Alwan.
The workshop aimed to instill values of integrity, enhance ethical and professional awareness among staff and academics, and define integrity as a fundamental pillar of professional practice. It also sought to identify manifestations of administrative corruption, familiarize participants with various forms of administrative and financial corruption—including covert behaviors—and explain how to detect them within an institution, while highlighting their legal and societal impact.
The workshop recommended updating behavioral guidelines and issuing a revised “Code of Professional Conduct” specifically for the College of Dentistry and the university. It proposed that this code be distributed to and signed by all staff to ensure compliance. Furthermore, it called for the activation of secure reporting channels—such as confidential complaint boxes or secure digital platforms—that allow for the reporting of suspected administrative corruption without fear of repercussions, as well as the digitization of administrative procedures.
